Description

A Star Box course/layout/sequence is an training obstacle layout I created for this website. I wanted to add working pin wheels to the standard box layout. It can be used to train a wide range of skills including: forward sends, jump wraps, 270 degree turns, pin wheels, threadles, passing by obstacles, and back sides.

Setup

The jumps can be set at any distance between them. A starting point might be to set them up in a rectangle that 20 feet/6 meters in width and 40 feet/12 meters in height. There are many ways to change the handling challenges of this basic jump setup:

  • Increase/decrease the distance between jumps. Longer distances increase your dog's speed and changes their striding.
  • The star box does not have to stay twice as tall as it is wide! The pinwheel of jumps could be much larger than shown above.
  • Rotate jumps to change the dog's approach.
